Abergele Garden Society is RHS affiliated and meets once a month for 10 months of the year. The meetings are held on a Monday at 7.30pm and last about 2 hours. In each meeting we have a speaker, a mini-show, a plant stall, gardening magazines for loan, a raffle and a free cup of tea/coffee. We also arrange about three outings a year to places of interest, usually gardens or garden centres. There is an annual plant fair in July. Membership is £5 for the year or £8 for a couple but your first visit is free - come to a meeting as a guest and see how you enjoy it. A list of the meetings for the 2008-09 season is shown below.

A Brief History of Abergele Garden Society
Abergele Garden Society has had a flourishing existence form its inception in 1988. The initial success was largely due to Mrs Audrey Cartwright who, on settling on Tan y Gopa Estate from Kent, saw a need for a garden society. Local advertising drew a large group of interested locals to the Community Hall opposite Beefield and people had to be turned away as the meeting place was overfull! Mr Ron Lloyd - chariman, Mr Jack Carr - Treasurer and Mrs Audrey Cartwright - secretary formed a leadship team of three.
The formulation of policy by this group led to a monthly meeting and a committee was elected. A guest speaker forms the backbone of the meeting with an interval for socialising and tea drinking. In September 1988 the first annual show was held; flower and fruit exhibits were judged and prizes awarded. In 2007 the format was changed to a very sucessful plant fair to raise money for charity.
Membership started out at over 100 and the venue was changed to Church House to cater for the larger audience. The mini-show was introduced with a points system and prizes are awarded each year to the members with the highest number of points.
The Society became affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society in 2000 and members can access help from the RHS about pests and gardening.
